About the Item
The Fragmentation console one part of a series of works inspired originally by the Japan earth quake of 2011 by Bronze artist Nick Davis. A number of Nick’s bronzes including furniture and lights continue to explore how otherwise robust structures can be rendered fragile by overwhelming forces including natural disaster, civil unrest and war. The dates of their manufacture relate to the history of events that inform their appearance.
The Fragmentation console appears rigid and solid at one end, slowly becoming fragmented and more random further along the piece. Cast in bronze, the legs are blackened through chemical patination whilst the top is left in the natural color, polished and lacquered.
The focus of Nick Davis's work is centred on creating designs for interiors. As an artist, designer and founder Nick Davis produces bronze furniture, sculpture and products combining design and function with an emotive edge giving his clients a truly unique piece for their collections. Early in his career Nick Davis worked in some of London's finest art foundries as both a founder and sculpture technician with many leading Artists including Maggie Hambling, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi and Mark Quinn. Nick established his first bronze foundry in 2007 and was soon exhibiting in London and New York. Nick's work is collected throughout the world including his Fragmentation Table sold into the private collection of the Rockefeller Family.
