Regency Black and Gilt Papier Mâché Tray, c1810 with Later Custom Stand

This exceptional papier mâché tray is highly decorated and sits on a clustered bamboo style frame. The black and gilt painted scene is of an Asian country estate with a typical stone bridge and swans. The frame is decorated by an intricate row of overlapping acanthus leaves. The outside of the trays frame is decorated with flowers and sprays of wheat. Simply, an exceptional example that belongs in just the right room. N.P. Trent has been a respected name in antiques for over 30 years with a large collection of period furniture, art and decorative accessories.
