Exceptionally Large Gilt Bronze and Malachite Vitrine Cabinet
About
This exceptional—in both size and quality—gilt bronze and malachite vitrine cabinet is the perfect home for antiques and objects of art, allowing such items to be shown to their very best. The cabinet, which is finished with luxurious malachite and accented with gilt bronze elements, houses four pairs of glazed doors. The lower two pairs open to reveal a display cabinet with a single glass shelf, while the upper two pairs open to two glass shelves.
The bottom tier of the cabinet is finished with exceptional gilt bronze mounts, including an upper frieze of scrolling foliage forms. The top tier is likewise accented with gilt bronze, including an elaborate frieze at the very top, which, like the lower frieze, includes scrolling foliage forms. The upper frieze, which sits below the grand overhanging entablature, is also mounted with gilt bronze profile busts, further emphasising the classicism of the entire piece. The cabinet is architecturally articulated by three malachite pillars, one central and two flanking at each side, which are mounted with gilt bronze beading. Finally, the interior of the cabinet is fitted with spotlights and the back lined with mirror, both features serving to enhance the beauty of any objects held inside.
