Walnut Sideboard with Top Shelf by George Nakashima

About the Item

A two-piece custom sideboard pr credenza handcrafted by George Nakashima, circa 1969 in his new hope studio. It is constructed with American black walnut with solid oak interiors. The lower sideboard features a frontal free edge displaying the natural contour of the wood slab, exposed dovetail joints on the sides. The sliding doors open to a divided interior with adjustable shelf on the left and a stack of four drawers on the right. The upper cabinet also features a free edge front and sliding doors that open to two compartment with an adjustable shelf on the left side. Graceful in proportion, it is one of the great examples of Nakashima's woodwork. Both pieces retain the name of the original owner on the back signed by Nakashima. In addition, it comes with a copy of original order card dated 1969.
