About the Item

A French Louis XV period Rococo secretary with hidden compartment, circa 1760. This antique French writing desk features a slant-leaf front with elegant plaque shaped carved panel, when dropped down into a desk top position, opens to reveal two rolls of smaller drawers for storage. The desk top still retains it's original leather pad within the writing area. The skirt houses a pair of small drawers, flanking a faux drawer between them, each adorn with a curvy raised trim panel and escutcheon at their center. Exciting and note-worthy is that the lower middle drawer on the inside of the desk can be taken out to reveal a hidden storage compartment beneath. There is some slight warping along the front leaf within the panel (which we feel does not effect the integrity of this piece, please see images for further details on condition.
