About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely hand made in England vintage 1930s burr walnut dressing table by Waring & Gillow LTD Lancaster Made by one of if not the greatest furniture makers in British History, Gillows, this dressing table is sublime, the legs are famboo which was very popular in the Regency era, famboo is basically fake bamboo, the Chinese influence had already had its impact on popular British furniture by the early 19th century, our furniture makers where looking for ways of incorporating traditional Chinese styles using English timbers and techniques, the result is walnut legs carved to resemble bamboo The Burr walnut veneer is lovely, its my favourite timber, it catches the light beautifully. The lock has the Waring and Gillow LTD Lancaster engraving along with the maker on the lock engraving, the same drawer has a little plaque with the patent number on We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, the table will have normal patina marks from honest use and genuine age, there is also sun fading on the sides Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
