Antique English Georgian Oak Hanging Kitchen Corner Cupboard

About the Item

This beautiful antique hanging corner cabinet was made in England, circa 1850. It is made in solid quarter-sawn oak. Quartersawn oak is defined as wood where the annular growth rings intersect the face of the board at a 60 to 90-degree angle. When cutting this lumber at the sawmill, each log is sawed at a radial angle into four quarters, hence the name. Dramatic flecking is also present in European oak. The cabinet is stained in a warm walnut color and was finished with clear cellulose lacquer and wax. It’s interior features two fixed serpentine-shaped shelves. It was covered in wallpaper that was removed. The whole interior was gently sanded and it can be painted in a color that suits your specification. It’s lock, brass hinges and keyplate are authentic to the piece. A wrought iron eye is mounted in the back and makes suspension easy. This cabinet has a beautiful warm patina and wax finish. It is ready for use. Dimensions: 95.5 cm high, each corner is 50 cm wide.
