About

This modern chest of drawers was made from reclaimed elm wood joined in the classic Chinese manner, stained brown, and finished with French Polish (a shellac–based process usually reserved for European antiques). The rich color of the surface is only partly due to the finishing technique, however. The old wood was selected for its rich patina and subtle gray-aged patina which shows through added surface color. The piece was made in Guangzhou, China.
