    This beautiful trunk or blanket chest was made in the Northern part of Austria, at the time the center of the Habsburg monarchy. The piece was made in the late 18th century circa 1780. It was completely made in solid pine by the use of traditional woodworking techniques. The sides were joined by classic dovetail joints and the mold was attached by the use of wooden pens. The trunk was decorated with simple painted motifs and ornaments typical for the northern Austrian region where the piece originates.
