French Louis XV Bombe Commode in Mahogany with Marble Top
About the Item
A French dresser from the early 20th century veneered with mahogany
The dresser or commode has a beautifully curved (bombe) front with three drawers. The mahogany veneer is made in cross band and is inlaid with natural and floral motifs typical for the Louis XV style. This type of work is also known as intarsia. A beautifully detailed pattern of exquisite wood species depicts a bouquet of flowers and Classic motifs such as acanthus and C-scrolls. The cabinet is enriched with cast brass ornaments. The top is made of grey cehegin marble and has a bullnose profiled edge. The dresser has undergone minor restoration in our workshop. It also has a working key for all the drawers.

- Condition:Repaired. Wear consistent with age and use. Condition details: The commode has been repaired in our atelier. Minor damage to the veneer was repaired and two locks were repaired. The color was revived and a new protective was layer was applied.
