Four-Panel Red Lacquer Armoire with Brass Trim by Robert Kuo, Limited Editon

About the Item

Four-panel red lacquer doors Armoire / cabinet with brass trim Wood base Red lacquer doors (80 coats) Lacquer is a laborious and time-consuming process. After it is tapped from the trees, lacquer needs to be boiled and strained to rid of impurities and prepare it as a coating. The lacquer technique is to apply in thin layers multiple times, waiting for each layer to dry for 24 hours before the next application. After the lacquer dries, artisans then hand carve these intricate designs as seen on the doors of this cabinet.
