About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning pair of circa 1900 solid mahogany dwarf open bookcases with brass gallery rail, single drawers and original castors A very good looking and well made pair, extremely decorative and very rare to find a perfect matching pair. They are solid mahogany with hand cut dovetail joints to the drawers, the castors are original and sit on tapered legs. These are what’s known as waterfall bookcases because they cascade in size from small to large top to bottom The brass gallery rails add a level of class and sophistication, the form is after Gillows and in keeping with the Georgian Silver Tea tables In terms of condition they are in lovely order throughout, we have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom Dimensions Height 111cm Width 66.5cm Depth 35cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
