Early 18th Century Solid Walnut English Bureau Bookcase
A delightful early 18th century solid walnut bureau bookcase having attractive double domed top with replacement mirror plates to panelled doors enclosing well fitted interior above well figured fall, two short and two long drawers with replacement brass plate handles raised on original shaped bracket feet. (This wonderfully attractive bureau bookcase is of typical early 18th century design and constructed from beautiful solid walnut which retains a rich, warm colour. The double domed design of the top adds really elegance and although the handles are replacements they are of the design that would originally have been in place. Also the mirror plates in the doors are relatively new replacements meaning there is no foxing, or silvering of any kind to worry about and the piece will look just as at home in a modern design interior as a traditional one. It is rare to find one of these in solid walnut, rather than burr veneers and in our opinion this adds a significant amount of charm to the piece).
