About the Item

This is a Canterbury or bookcase or 3-stage display or server made in England, circa 1870. The piece is made of Kashmir walnut (the finest cut of Burr Walnut). The piece rest on nicely turned feet that retain their original beaded and collared solid brass castors. The piece is finished on all 4 sides so that it can be put into the middle of a room. It measures 22 in. wide x 16 in. deep x 41 1/2 in. tall (to the top shelf surface) x 42 1/2 in. tall (to the top of the brass gallery). This is a superb piece of beautiful English antique furniture.
