19th Century Swiss Black Forest Carved Dowry Chest or Trunk with Needlework

About the Item

Charming hand carved mid-sized wooden Folk Art dowry chest from the Black Forest area of Switzerland, made circa the turn of the century. It features a beautifully hand carved floral and vine Acanthus motif and has 'claw-like' feet. Two side handles for easier transport and to complete the chest it has (worn) appliques of handstitched needlework panels. This would be a beautiful decorative eye-catcher in a hallway or living room to store a blanket in. measurements include handles and clawfeet. the inside of the box without lid measures: D x W x H 50 x 37 x 28 cm (19.7 x 14.6 x 11 inch) Please contact me with your address information for exact shipping quote.
