Restored Victorian Brown Leather Chesterfield Chippendale Wingback Armchair

About the Item

We are is delighted to offer for sale this stunning fully restored cigar brown hand dyed leather Victorian wingback armchair with Thomas Chippendale floating button cushion A very good looking and nicely refurbished piece. This is an original Victorian circa 1860 armchair, the seat platform is all coil sprung, the leather individually hand nail tacked in place. The chair has brass cup castors, the frame is solid mahogany and is whats called a Georgian H frame meaning if you lay the chair down and look at the frame it looks like the letter H. The back legs are nicely curved outwards giving the chair some elegance. The chair has a floating button cushion which was first seen on the legendary cabinet maker Thomas Chippendale's early seating It is fully restored as mentioned, the leather has been stripped back to the natural color of the hide, its then been hand dyed this glorious tobacco brown color, the timber has been lightly cleaned and French polished Dimensions Height 114.5cm Width 81.6cm Depth 86.5cm Seat height 44cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
