About the Item

This redesigned ancient work stool has been abroaded, spraypainted in neon green and orange and finished in high gloss 2K lacquer. The piece combines modernity and ancient craftsmanship and works as a perfect item for your hallway, a conversation piece and a functional sculpture of contemporary design. In the manner of Helmut Palla with coloring like Josef Albers or Rupprecht Geiger. Markus Friedrich Staab : • born 1964 in Aschaffenburg, Germany • since 1986 active as a visual artist • since 1989 national and international exhibitions/releases • since 2010 work with functional art Furniture has been with us almost since the beginning of time, not just for practical purposes, but as an expression of derivation, of religion, of hierarchy or as objects of utility. Functional pieces has served each one of us since childhood and surround us every day without adequate prception. Through my work I alter existing furniture into unique and individual objects. Mass-produced and homogenous pieces transubstantiated into singular and unique workings by employing original craftsmenship and design as the basis for this work. Sustainability, reclamation and loyalty are my cornerstones to create contemporary but atemporal, out of the box but classic furniture. I am particularly interested to give value to overlooked, already used and matured pieces. To suit my taste I endow it with a new meaning, a different assignation, a changed look and design. Through this process the item become a self-sufficient piece of applied serviceable art, functional and ready to use.
