"The Bolognese" Stool or Table by Tino Valentinitsch for Spolia

About the Item

For the second collaboration, spolia. was able to win over Tino Valentinitsch, a designer working in Vienna and New York. We are now very pleased to be able to present the successful result. The initial material Valentinitsch worked with was salvaged from a Bolognese industrial villa built in circa 1850. His approach, which consisted of working with the special structures of the two dimensional surface, produced a remarkable result. The polyhedron which were produced are reminiscent of the way in which geometry and perspective were handled by well-known artists or the ‘dazzle camouflage’ of the First World War. They play with the observer and invite him to rearange. The form, which is intended to be used as either a side table or a stool, can be rotated on all sides and is striking not only as a single piece but also in an ensemble.
