Slatted Bench by Grete Jalk

About the Item

A Grete Jalk designed teak slat top bench with tapered dowel legs. Working at a time when women were a rarity in the design world, Grete Juel Jalk completed her education at the Danish Royal Academy apprenticing under highly influential designer Kaare Klint. She went on to receive wide acclaim for her designs exhibited at the 1951 Milan Triennale. Jalk’s furniture is known for her masterful, articulate lines and thoroughly modern timeless function and design. Her sought after work brought Denmark's international reputation for furniture design and is collected widely, including being featured in New york’s Museum of Modern Art.
