Pair of Kurt Østervig Sheepskin Lounge Chairs, Rolschau Møbler, Denmark, 1958

About the Item

This pair of rare lounge chairs was designed by Kurt Østervig and produced by the Danish manufacturer Rolschau Møbler in 1958. The design is characterized by the round seat shell, mounted on a striking sled like base in stained oak. The chairs have been upholstered in a charcoal gray, curly sheepskin. This gives the minimalist design a wonderful soft texture and a sense of warmth. References: The model 57A chair was presented at the Købestævnet exhibition in Fredericia, Denmark in 1958. The chair is also illustrated in the 'God Form' exhibition catalogue, 1958, Fredericia, p. 34.
