Pierre Paulin for Artifort Pair of Lounge Chairs in Lacquered Metal

About the Item

Pair of easy chairs by Pierre Paulin, pair of lounge chairs, model F-444, white metal and mesh, The Netherlands, circa 1962 This pair of mesh F-444 chairs is designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in 1962. This chair shows sharp lines and features an angled open seat that features as a floating seat. Due the use of a metal frame and mesh a beautiful contrast and thus a modern expression is created. This pair is executed in white and grey and thus has a minimalist, muted expression. Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) was a French postwar designer who studied sculpture. But his study was not what influenced Paulin as he was a mediocre student and is a selfmade designer, so he claimed himself. Paulin saw the importance of the social role of design and for this he looked at Nordic modernity and simplicity for inspiration. A great talent of Paulin was that he could envision the concepts of his furniture in 3D in his mind. Paulin was someone who researched his design thoroughly. Please note that these chairs show signs of wear and use. Reupholstery and renewing of the lacquer can be done before shipping. We kindly ask you to reach out to our design specialists for further information. The price listed is per item.
