Carl Malmsten for O. H. Sjögren Lounge Chairs Model ‘Farmor’

About the Item

Carl Malmsten for O. H. Sjögren, lounge chairs model ‘Farmor’, fabric wood, Sweden, design 1956 Swedish furniture designer Carl Malmsten cooperated in the 1950s with small Swedish companies which were allowed to produce his designs. The lounge chair ‘Farmor’ was one of the first model Malmsten allowed to be produced by selected manufacturers which was a great success. ‘Farmor’ in Swedish means ‘grandmother’. Carl Malmsten always wanted to express a certain idea or feeling with the model names he gave his designs. The model ‘Farmor’ is a highly comfortable high back lounge chair. With the curved contour of the back and the outwards bending armrests, this classic design gets some modern details. Please note that we currently have three ‘Farmor’ lounge chairs in our current collection. They differ in color of the fabric as well as in condition. The above pictures show the chairs in a pastel yellow and pistachio green color. Please note that we advise reupholstery before use. This can be done before shipping by our experienced craftsman in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
