Handcrafted living room or patio set. It is made in the style of Gerrit Rietveld and is clearly inspired by his legendary "kratstoel" or "crate chair" where difference lies in the amount of slats in the seat and back. This set was made during the 1950s and is entirely made from pine and assembled using round headed screws that are recessed in the wood. Made with great eye for detail.
The set consists of 2 two-seater sofas and 1 lounge chair.

De Stijl (Dutch for "The Style"), also known as Neoplasticism, was a Dutch art movement founded in 1917 in Leiden. De Stijl consisted of artists and architects. In a more narrow sense, the term De Stijl is used to refer to a body of work from 1917 to 1931 founded in the Netherlands. Proponents of De Stijl advocated pure abstraction and universality by a reduction to the essentials of form and colour; they simplified visual compositions to vertical and horizontal, using only black, white and primary colors.
De Stijl is also the name of a journal that was published by the Dutch painter, designer, writer, and critic Theo van Doesburg that served to propagate the group's theories. Along with van Doesburg, the group's principal members were the painters Piet Mondrian, Vilmos Huszár, Bart van der Leck, and the architects Gerrit Rietveld, Robert van 't Hoff, and J. J. P. Oud. The artistic philosophy that formed a basis for the group's work is known as Neoplasticism—the new plastic art (or Nieuwe Beelding in Dutch).

This majestic giltwood Chateau salon suite is from France and dates to circa 1880. There are four side chairs, two armchairs (fauteuils), and a canapé. All have square baluster legs and volute x-stretchers. All the wood has been richly sculpted and gilded, and motifs include scrolls, foliage, rinceaux, palmettes, beading, acanthus leaves and more. The armrests of the fauteuils and canapé are supported by large lion muzzles. The side chairs and canapé are all supported by cross stretchers, while the bright yellow upholstery is more recent, attached by large brass nailheads. The motifs are musical trophies encircled by foliate and floral motifs. French furniture of this style would have been first produced during the reign of Louis XIV, toward the end of the 1600s. This rare and complete seating group is a design by Kho Liang Ie for the company of Artifort. Kho Liang Ie joined Artifort in 1958 as estethic advisor. The 020 model was designed in 1958 and was a turning point for Artifort in their designs and was a representation of Artiforts new design philosophy. This can be considered as their first modernist design and for many to follow. The seating group offered is, considering age and use, in a very good condition. The frame is bright and shiny. It is constructed by connecting the legs with the horizontal black metal parts and the upper horizontal chrome part on the back. The structure is very visible in this design as well as how the seat is put onto the frame.
The seats are all upholstered in the same black leather. Also the backs are upholstered in leather so it can be placed in the middle of a room.
The upholstery has been redone years ago and does show signs of age and use, no missing buttons.
The table is of the same material for the frame, with a black lacquered wooden top. This top does show some light scratching from age and use.

Zusätzliche Information:
Bei den Armlehnstühlen sowie den Sesseln handelt es sich um museale Stücke. Auf Wunsch von Thonet-Mundus wurde Adolf Gustav Schneck um 1928 beauftragt, zwei Sitzmöbel zu entwerfen, die Josef Franks Modelle A 402 & A 403/F zum Vorbild nahmen. Entstanden sind die Modelle A 63 (Sessel) und A 63/F (Armlehnstuhl). Ob es eine Konkurrenz zwischen den beiden Architekten gab, geht aus der Literatur leider nicht hervor. Schneck bildete jedoch Franks Modelle in seinem Buch „Der Stuhl” aus dem Jahre 1928 ohne Namensangabe ab. Interessant wurde Schnecks seltener Entwurf (A 63) aufgrund der Verwendung für die Inneneinrichtung des Wohnhauses Nr. 5 (Haus Häring) der Werkbundsiedlung in Wien, geplant von Architekten Hugo Häring...
