Elegant and robust set of four Mid-Century modern dining Chiavari chairs, in blond walnut with new white upholstery . Manufactured in the city of Chiavari on the Ligurian coast of Italy, created, circa 1960s. Excellent conditions

About
The famous chair of Chiavari, called "chiavarina", is very light with a slender structure. It was first realized at the end of the 18th century by the artisan Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi called "Campanino". It is said that this model was commissioned by the Marquis and first President of the Economic Company Stefano Rivarola, who after a stay in Paris was struck by some chairs of exquisite manufacture, solid and light at the same time. In the 1950s the structure was made of brass with Made in Italy logo and high back, a very special type of seat to be seen, its vertical line gives a lightness and elevation upwards. The most important chair with high back was designed by architect Charles R. Mackintosh for the bedroom of Walter W. Blakie's Hill House. The chair had a purely aesthetic, artistic purpose.
