11-Piece Art Nouveau Seating Set, France, circa 1940s
About the Item
Wonderful set comprising ten chairs and a settee. All the pieces feature ornately cut-out and carved backs depicting large poppy plants and flowers, stylized in the flowing and elegant style that characterizes Art Nouveau. The seats of both the settee and the chairs, of trapezoidal shape, are also engraved with floral and scrolling details. The armrests on the settee also display Art Nouveau characteristics, as does the apron.
The set, probably made circa 1950, offers a bright and modern version of classical Art Nouveau design.
