About

Black leatherette daybed model "Cleopatra" by A.R. Cordemeyer for Auping, the Netherlands, 1953. This must be one of the most famous Dutch daybeds from the midcentury. The bed was designed by A.R. Cordemeyer in the 1950s for Auping. A remodeled edition is still for sale today. Our daybed is an original vintage example. The design was inspired by the sleeper daybed from Queen Cleopatra. André Cordemeyer, was a Dutch designer from the midcentury. He worked for some of the most famous design companies of the Netherland. One of those companies was Gispen, a Dutch manufacturer producing Industrial furniture. Cordemeyer designed many Dutch classics like his 416 lounge chairs, which he designed together with Wim Rietveld, the 1442 easy chair and sofa and his famous Cleopatra daybed for Auping. Measures: Length 200 cm Width 85 cm Height 38 cm.
