About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning very rare fully restored cigar brown leather Humpback Gentleman's club suite with a hand-turned mahogany frame finished with brass castors. Where to begin! This suite is absolute eye candy from every angle, it is Victorian with the original leather hide which is very thick, the leather is in fully restored condition throughout, the colour had faded, it has been hand dyed this lovely cigar brown color. The frames are solid mahogany, hand turned and finished with brass castors, there are no wheels at the back to give the suite a more relaxed seating position, if the new owner would like them straighter then we can have back castors fitted for a fee. The two most attractive things about this suite for me are firstly the humpback, its a style the goes back to Chippendale's time in the 1700s, quintessentially English and will look amazing in the century's to come, secondly the size, its very compact and ideal for city living, small studies, again its rare to find these dimensions. Condition wise the timber frames have been checked secured and stained then polished, the leather has been hand dyed, the suite has horsehair padding throughout, its crunchy, the padding has moved and compressed a little throughout the years as standard, the only noticeable movement is on the second club armchair on the back, you can see its slightly more indented than the others. This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
