Pair of Danish Art Deco Club Chairs/ Bergeres in Mahogany w/ Upholstery, c. 1920

About the Item

A stunning pair of very comfortable Danish Art Deco club chairs/ bergeres with fluted pilasters capped with ionic capitals on the arm fronts, and arched and carved crest rail. Frames are made of very fine solid, West Indies/ Cuban mahogany & have been French-polished to a high sheen in our atelier. Denmark, circa 1920. Upholstered in a cotton ruby red Lee Jofa fabric "Thistle Stripe". Note: You should always request a shipping quote. Quoted amounts are an estimate of what it might cost to ship out to you based on destinations of the greatest distance. We would love to find you a better quote if possible. Note: There is a photo of the original Sofa that came with suite shown with the chairs which is available on 1stdibs under product number LU9881950536 . There is also a photo of a salon table, not originally with the suite but a perfect fit under product number LU98811548392 . Why are these chairs listed in good condition and not excellent? Because, while in excellent condition for an antique, 1stdibs reserves the term "excellent" for new furniture. Chairs measure: 28 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep x 36 1/2" high (Seat: 19" high x 18 1/2" deep)

Charles Baudouine (June 1, 1808 – January 13, 1895 was an American cabinetmaker and interior decorator, and was the patriarch of a major family in New York society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in New York of Huguenot ancestry, Baudouine was first listed as a cabinetmaker in the New York City Directory of 1829-30, working at 508 Pearl Street.
