Piece and Quiet by Nathaniel Wojtalik is a series that draws upon the literary, musical, and cinematic idea of découpé, or cut-up. The technique of découpé stems from the notion that a text, musical score, or image could be cut up and rearranged to create a new body. Off-cuts and partially completed prototypes float around Wojtalik's studio; some more machined and worked than others, many just raw materials laying in their natural form. Wojtalik practices design by intuition: limited, but simultaneously expanded within the constraints of what is salvaged. "Panama Bronze" is an art and design project, the result of the collaboration between the artist Mattia Biagi and Promemoria. The artist has poured hot tar on a real Panama chair, to bring the object closer to the material and to make it melt in the ground. Mattia Biagi has created what he himself called the "polarity of destruction and conservation".
