Modern Solid Oak Chair with Black Oil Finish for Dining / Writing Height Seating

US$750per item

About

The Bowtie Chair by Alabama Sawyer is a Modern Solid Oak Chair with Black Oil Finish for Dining or Writing Height Seating. It combines elements of minimalist, modern design with rustic and rugged naturalism. Made with wood from Birmingham's urban forest, the natural wood grain of this chair would be at home in any cottage or farmhouse styled kitchen or dining room, or mixed amidst a more bohemian living room arrangement. Available in both a black and a clear hand-applied oil finish, this chair is a place where creativity and conversation can happen. A field-to-studio company, Alabama Sawyer repurposes the finest wood species, reclaimed from our local urban forests, to create one of a kind furniture pieces and accessories for the home or business.

About the Maker

Alabama Sawyer

At Alabama Sawyer, we design modern, environmentally sustainable products from fallen trees in the Birmingham, Alabama area. Since we began in 2014, we have diverted hundreds of logs from the landfill by transforming them into award-winning furniture and products for homes and businesses. Instead of letting trees waste in a landfill, we gather them from municipalities, businesses and homeowners to give them a second life. Urban wood has character. Urban wood has knots, burls and insect holes. It’s not "perfect" — it’s unique, one-of-kind and stunningly beautiful. The constraints and adaptations of growing in the urban forest creates character. We handle each log individually with an eye for the best cut. Then we mill it to show off its inner beauty. Our wood is better for the environment. Urban forests give us cleaner air and cooler temperatures. A living tree provides great value to the community — so can a repurposed one. Historically, felled city trees are taken to the landfill to decompose. Every year, Americans bury 4 billion board feet of usable hardwood trees in our city landfills. Using urban wood keeps them from releasing carbon back into the atmosphere where it contributes to climate change. Using urban wood in long-lasting furniture doesn't matter unless the design is right. Our furniture won Garden and Gun's overall Made in the South award in 2017. Our products are specified by top designers and architects nationwide and sold in cutting-edge design collections.
