Set of Six Italian Chairs by Arch. Vito Sangirardi for Pallante shop, Bari

About the Item

Rare set of six Italian chairs designed by architect Vito SanGirardi for the Pallante shop in Bari, Palo del Colle in the 1950s. The set is made of sturdy mahogany wood. Its seat is made of white Italian fabric. The furnishings of the Pallante shop were all made to measure by the architect, in fact not if there are other similar ones of that production. The design of the sono is geometric and linear. A play of perfect joints in the wood determine the configuration of the seat. The shop's furnishings are also in the same line. The chairs are perfect for furnishing dining areas in mid-century style with a reminder of architectural cleanliness. The set of chairs is in its original condition and has flaws and shortcomings, which is why they will be fully restored and delivered in excellent condition. VITO SANGIRARDI: In Naples he attended courses at the Royal University of Architecture, graduating on 21st December 1938. After a few years in Naples, he returned to Puglia where he married Luigia Mastronardi in 1941, with whom he had four children, and lived in Sannicandro (Bari) where he also had his first studio. It is a period of about 9 years of activity, interrupted by the war events in which he is forced to participate in the military genius. As the post-war years went by, the centre of interest of his activity moved towards the capital city; therefore, since 1953 he has been living in Bari, where he has mainly carried out his profession, which however, is of widespread interest throughout the entire Apulian territory. Since 1953 his studio has been located in Via Abbrescia 89; until 1968, when he moved to the 2nd floor of a building he designed and owned by Assicurazioni Generali in Via Michelangelo Signorile 2, where he has shared office and business with his son Germano since 1979. In 1960 he was elected President of the Order of Architects of Apulia, remaining in office until 1971. In this role, having worked continuously for a long time, especially in Bari, he was able to participate actively in the city's debate on its urban development, leaving various contributions on the subject, communicated at conferences and through newspaper articles.

  • Set of Six Italian Vintage Chairs in Wood and Dark Green Leather
    Located in Milano, IT
Lovely set composed of six wooden chairs designed in the 50's, of fine Italian manufacture. The structure of the chairs is linear, with four supporting legs, with a pointed shape, while the back is straight with a slightly curved cut of the wood. The chairs are entirely made of light wood in the frame, while dark green leather in the seat. The seat and back are connected: in fact, the leather upholstery rises from the seat to the middle of the back, giving a unique touch to the seat. The leather is fixed to the structure by means of round brass studs in patina, typically vintage. Another peculiarity of the chair is the shape of the top of the backrest, which sees the woodwork at the two ends create two soft indentations, while the middle part goes down more, creating a beautiful ornament. The shape of the chair seat is also peculiar, as towards the outside it becomes more pointed and the wood also tapers, while going towards the center of the seat the wood is thicker and strengthened. The chairs are very beautiful and are ideal for furnishing vintage...
