About the Item
Bijou Marquetry Stool in Brass by Matteo Cibic is an opulent seat with brass inlay. It may be used as a single statement piece or with the stunning woman in Paris Oro dressing table.
Matteo Cibic designed the Vanilla Noir collection for Scarlet Splendour in 2014-15. The collection over the years comprises of over fifty beautiful pieces of furniture finished in resin inlay work painstakingly handcrafted in India. The forms of these pieces are delightfully unique, some are reminiscent of Art Deco style and some are playful with quirky shapes. But always soft edged and charming. The founders of Scarlet Splendour couldn't have enough of this chic Italian line develop by Cibic. So after much deliberation amongst them, it was decided that this collection should be produced in a more opulent and precious material, brass was the obvious choice. Marquetry has long been a craft in India, be it of metal, semi-precious stones, bone, ivory or wood. Brass inlay work is a popular handicraft right from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in the north to Tamil Nadu in the south. This craft is used in the Vanilla Noir Oro collection as brass is meticulously crafted on wood to create strong graphic patterns. Paradoxically, the patterns remain subtle as well because there is no contrasting color or material used in the inlay. The result has been an elegant, decadent collection, a fine contemporary take on a traditional craft.
Care: Wipe gently with dry soft cloth. Liquid spillage must be wiped without delay.
Please note: Each piece in the Vanilla Noir Oro collection exalts the handmade, the painstakingly crafted, the authentic. A piece may have slight variations and tiny imperfections but these are the marks of an artisan, a testament to the individuality of each work of art. It is our belief that these variations infuse our objects d'art which desire and we assert our right to make the necessary qualitative changes. Prices do not include VAT. Scarlet Splendour
Ashish Bajoria and Suman Kanodia founded Scarlet Splendour in 2014. The siblings grew up in Kolkata, India with a deep sense of appreciation for the aesthetic. They combined their mutual passion for design to form Scarlet Splendour, with a view to integrate their maximalist sensibilities and become, possibly, the first design editors in India. They set out to create trailblazing furniture, lighting, and rugs on the borders of classical and modern, whimsical and serious, and functional and dramatic. Scarlet Splendour has collaborated with international stores, press agencies, artists, and designers to transform and take local craftsmanship to global levels. The company heralds a blend of the cultures and transcends geographical boundaries to achieve the extraordinary in the design world. Scarlet Splendour was launched at Spazio Rossana Orlandi during the Milan Design Week 2015. Their debut collections were born out of the genius of Matteo Cibic from Vicenza, Italy. He has won the 2017 Elle Decor International Design Award in the Young Talent category. In addition to Matteo Cibic's designs, the Scarlet Splendour portfolio contains a range of work from Dario Contessotto, Mirco Colussi, and Nika Zupanc. Since Milan 2015, Scarlet Splendour has increased its collaborations with designers of international acclaim and has a formidable repertoire of design products. Scarlet Splendour combines its exquisite artistry with immaculate design to evoke decadence and timelessness.
