Two Pierre Jeanneret Sofa Chairs / Authentic Mid-Century Modern, Chandigarh

About the Item

These iconic pieces of furniture with their characteristic A-shaped profiles are rare classics of history. Through their sophisticated proportions and elegant shape, the sofa represents the timeless mindset of modernist architecture and design. They consist of natural materials as solid teak wood and their upholstery of coloured fur, specifically cow hides. The few but well-executed elements underline their simplicity and roughness and support the sofa's appearance. These sofas have letters, which means they are extremely rare. They are such a great investment and very hard to find these days. Pierre Jeanneret counts as one of the most influential architects and designers of the modernist period. Alongside Le Corbusier he was involved in countless projects that had a major impact on our understanding of modern architecture. We don't restore too much in order to keep as much as possible of the historical traces and value. On your request we can redo upholstery in any fabric you prefer. Authenticity: That is an authentic Mid-Century piece from Chandigarh designed by Pierre Jeanneret. Each wooden part is authentic Mid-Century, each wooden part is originally from that chair. No wooden parts got replaced. This chair got examined carefully in the condition before restoration. Then all traces and important indicators were still visible, so it's certain that it's not a fake or a partially authentic object. We guarantee the authenticity and offer it with a certificate of authenticity with an identification number. The cushion and the caning are redone. About us: We are located in Switzerland, the origin of Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier. Proud to offer you our huge selection of authentic mid-century pieces. The owner studied architecture at the elite university ETH in Zurich. Soon after the opening of his gallery in Zurich Downtown he focused on Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand and Le Corbusier. Finally, he's got one of the biggest experts for Chandigarh objects worldwide. You are welcome in our new showroom of 450m2 in our two glass houses, where we show a selection of raw design master pieces.
