17th Century Louis XIII Armchair, Restored and Newly Upholstered

About the Item

The Louis XIII style originated during Henry IV, who was a avid patron of Craftsmen, and craftsmanship of all kinds flourished in France during this period. Furniture was architectural of nature, rather sturdy and woods such as walnut, oak and pine where of predominant use. This chair sit's very comfortable, it is rather deep and also of the wider side of chairs. There is some worming which is normal for a chair of this period. The frame has been reinforced, new corner blocks were added. The fabric is a linen and silk hopsack weave. The seat depth is 23 inches, the arm height is 26 inches.
