Pair of French 19th Century Louis XV St. Giltwood Armchairs
About the Item
A superb pair of French 19th century Louis XV st. giltwood armchairs. Each chair is raised by elegant cabriole legs decorated with richly carved foliate details. The arbalest shaped frieze are centered by beautiful and finely carved reserves flanked by charming leaves and intricately detailed flowers. The cushioned arm supports also display similar carvings which continue along the elegantly scalloped shaped upholstered back supports. Above are impressive and wonderfully executed central floral reserves flanked by reeded and foliate designs all in a rich satin and burnished finish. All original gilt throughout.
