Pair of Austrian Biedermeier 1840s, Armchairs with Pierced Backs and Cane Seats
About the Item
A pair of Austrian Biedermeier armchairs from the mid-19th century with pierced back, cane seats and seat cushion. Each chair features a pierced design on the back, reminiscent of Gothic ribbed vaults over curved arms with obelisk shaped supports. The cane seat with simple convex apron is raised on four legs, the two in the front are tapered while the two in the back are saber. A green colored cushion is placed on the cane seat. With their warm color and sleek profile, typical of the Biedermeier taste for refined simplicity, this pair of Austrian armchairs, circa 1840 would look wonderful in any living room, bedroom or office.
