“Sculpture” armchair, 1969 polyurethane foam covered with black vinyl signed at the base H 58 cm, W 95 cm, D 94 cm This work is registered in the archives of Madame Denyse Durand-Ruel under n ° 5897 this armchair was produced in 3 copies, only two copies are to date referenced in the archives of Madame Denyse Durand-Ruel, a white model and this one in black bibliography: Sitting down, Musée de Grenoble, June-October 1974, exhibition catalog, drawing by model reproduced p.48. Cesar (1921-1998) César Baldaccini is a French sculptor, famous for his compressions, his expansions, the achievement of the Césars trophy and his membership of the group of New Realists. Interested in manufactured objects, he wanted to integrate the artistic world as a sociological vestige and thus expose the new reality of his time. A little-known but equally interesting production, César also created works of design. Less focused on the utilitarian aspect than on the forms of the furniture, his object-sculptures are the fruit of a real reflection on daily furniture: the exhibition "Antagonism 2. The object" in 1962 at the Museum of Decorative Arts of Paris was the starting point for this new artists' furniture where creators like Arman and César exhibited. Acid colors and new materials appeared more and more prominently during the 1960s and César used technological advances in his works as in his furniture. The meridian he created for the National Furniture in 1968 with an orange altuglas base covered with black polyurethane foam is a perfect example of the production of Caesar where geometric and soft shapes meet. This 1969 polyurethane armchair-sculpture is no exception to the rule: difficult to practice with its geometric shapes, it instilled in his work a great artistic and critical sense that led to questions about how to sit. It is a perfect example of non-conformist furniture from the 1970s. Work registered in the archives of Madame Denyse Durand-Ruel under number 5897, this armchair edited by Zol was produced in 3 copies, two of which were referenced in the archives of Madame Denyse Durand- Ruel, a black model and a white model.
