A beautifully designed room size vintage flat-woven French Art Deco rug, country of origin rug type: Vintage French rugs, date circa mid-20th century. Size: 8 ft x 11 ft 4 in (2.44 m x 3.45 m) This colorful French flat woven rug is an essential mid 20th century masterpiece. This beautiful vintage French rug brings line, color, and form together in a way that reflects the artistic ideology that shaped contemporary design. The mastery of the art deco design allows this vintage mid century rug to be used in retro and contemporary design schemes. The beautiful kilim rug uses areas of solid color set against areas of fine pinstripes to create the illusion that one rectangular area is placed on top of the others. The space of this magnificent vintage room size rug is divided by areas of pinstripes that are perpendicular and that very in size and color. One of the interesting aspects of the French deco rug is that one portion of the art deco rug focuses on warm colors, while the other half introduces cool blue tones. The artist used this to create an optical illusion that makes the solid red squares appear to be slightly different shades, when in fact, they are the same. The use of line also creates a feeling of differences in texture between the various sections of the design. The artist used contrast in color and line to create artistic depth and variation. This piece serves as a study of line and form in mid-century design. Even though this court flat woven French Art Deco rug was created in the middle of the 20th century, it would also work well with any contemporary design scheme from modern Scandinavian to minimalism.
