77237 Louis XIV style antique French Aubusson Verdure tapestry, Adonis, Venus, & Amour. Drawing inspiration by Italian Baroque painter, Francesco Albani, Peter Paul Rubens, and artist Jan van Orley, this antique French Aubusson verdure tapestry depicts a mythological scene of Adonis, Venus, and her son, Amor (Cupid). The left side of the antique verdure tapestry displays a city landscape with a Corinthian column portico, and a fountain while nearby Venus tries to seduce Adonis with Amour (Cupid) in the background. Surrounded by trees, dense foliage, and flowers, a bridge and mountains with the beginnings of a lush pastoral forest lead to viewer's eyes from the middle to the right portraying an idyllic setting. A couple, one holding a spear is ready to embark on his hunt adds fundamental interest to the verdure landscape scene. The antique French Aubusson verdure tapestry is enclosed with a delicate ribbon scroll border. Predominantly rendered in variegated shades of cerulean, verdigris, brown, and beige, this antique French Aubusson tapestry embodies true verdure water and landscapes coloring in blues, greens, and browns.
