About the Item
"Kama" is an iconic rug by designer Deanna Comellini, Founder and Art Director of G.T.DESIGN - Italian design brand pioneer in the field of contemporary rugs.
It was introduced by G.T.DESIGN in 2001 revolutionizing the contemporary rug industry and becoming part of the history of design. The first rug to use a sumptuous and wild hand-woven viscose fiber, "Kama" captures the light and let it fluctuate on its weave.
A design of Deanna Comellini, the groundbreaking rug features the highest quality of the reflective fiber to create a thick yarn with a unique brilliance, softness and color depth. The dope dyed yarn is hand weaved on traditional looms and cut in irregular technique, making the luxurious rug so seductive that it is named after the Indian God of Love.
Bringing a sensorial feel to interior design, "Kama" takes center stage in any space, shifting the perception of rug design from accessory to essential element in interior design. A timeless favorite of star architects and included in prominent design brands project, "Kama" is offered in a wide range of sizes and vibrant colors. The "Kama" rug has been showcased in 2022 inside the galleries of the illustrious Museo del Novecento, Milan, during the exhibition "Aldo Rossi. Design 1960-1997".
Deanna Comellini’s strong affinity with Aldo Rossi‘s approach to design has inspired Chiara Spangaro, the exhibition curator, and Morris Adjmi – MA Architects Studio, leading the project, to include G.T.DESIGN’s creations in the exhibition that gave tribute to one of the leading figures in architecture and design of the Twentieth century.

Viscose is soft, shiny and velvety like silk, as well as very resistant, which makes the "Kama" collection ideal for all kinds of environments, from the living room to the bedroom and can be used for residential, yachting and hospitality projects.
In the color "Bianco Caldo", a warm white that shimmers like sand in the sunlight, this rug has a size of 200x350 cm.

About the designer:
Deanna Comellini is an artist and a designer.
For over 40 years, she has experimented by combining craftsmanship and industrial design while working first on product design and later on textiles. She has developed the notion of ‘imperfect design’, highlighting the minor flaws of materials and handmade products that make them unique and one-of-a-kind. In the 1990s, she focused on the concept of the contemporary rug and natural materials while innovating the industry with a new textile for interior design. In 1977, she founded G.T.DESIGN taking on the role of Creative Director. She participated in prestigious international exhibitions and collaborated with important architectural figures, including Toyo Ito and the Zaha Hadid Architects studio.
Deanna Comellini was named one of the 100 Most Influential Women by Forbes Italy in 2022.
