Minimalist Contemporary Persian Area Rug, Gray and Cream in Pure Wool

US$16,120

About

Measuring 8’ x 10’4," this grey and cream wool carpet, titled Rain No.2, is hand-knotted and belongs to the Orley Shabahang Rain Collection. Beautiful and timeless, the quality of its construction truly sets a piece such as this apart from other more mass-produced contemporary rugs. Wool, shorn from Persian fat-tailed sheep, has been hand-spun, organically dyed, and then hand-knotted with traditional Persian weaving techniques on a cotton warp and weft. The foundation is held together by the tension in the weave, not by adhesives or latex. This process is more time-consuming, but necessary to truly create the most beautiful, functional, and luxurious carpets in the world. The complex, yet minimalist design in Rain No.2, gives this carpet its versatility to seamlessly match any interior. The combination of gray and cream wool produces a sublime contrast. Up close, the pattern is intricate, but when placed on the floor, the pattern emerges as subdued and relaxed. Inspired by the different forms that rain can take, Rain No.2 recreates these familiar shapes of falling rain in an irresistible design. For convenience and a clean, modern look, the fringe is wrapped inside a canvas strip. In addition to its sleek appearance, this canvas allows for a hassle-free vacuuming experience that will not ruin the foundation. Because this piece measures just over 8' x 10', this rug is ideal for a bedroom, living room, or wherever a medium-sized area carpet may be required.
