The architectural elements of naturalistic forms combined with Arts & Crafts style, this hand knotted wool antique Persian Sultanabad rug astounds with its beauty. Designed to impress, the pictorial hunting scene unfolds lavish details of exotic wild animals intertwined within the opulent frondescence. The warm abrashed field is covered with a symmetrical pictorial scene composed of lions, antelopes, deers, and gazelles among the arabesque vines, rosettes, palmettes, and leafy tendrils. It is enclosed with a botanical border flanked by an inner and outer carnation Meander guard border. The overall composition is distinctly reminiscent of the Arts & Crafts movement carpet designs of late nineteenth and early 20th century England.
