About the Item
This simple yet elegant needlepoint tapestry has been woven by hand in colors of red and beige. The central design has been woven on a rust-red background and features a symmetrical floral medallion. This is then framed by a detailed beige cream border that draws the eye to create a beautiful accent rug.
This style of rugs is best known as Aubusson, recognized today as one of the most influential European rugs and Tapestries designs. Constructed in China where weavers replicate the same traditional techniques used in the antique pieces made in Aubusson, central France. Aubusson designs frequently draw reference from Art Nouveau and Renaissance style and can be paired with other decorative arts from 1890-1910 and modern styles of the 21st century.
