78450 Antique Chinese Ningxia bench runner meditation mat, 02'01 x 25'08.
With its incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted wool antique Chinese Ningxia bench runner is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The traditional Chinese style and symbolic colorway woven into this piece work together creating a truly unique look. This Chinese bench runner features thirteen medation squares and most likely was used to cover benches in a Chinese monastery. This is one single piece; however, they are often cut into individual squares and used as meditation mats. Each square depicts an open medallion while iconic fretwork patterns form the corner spandrels. It is enclosed with a Greek T-meander border. Aside from the rich cultural symbolism, this piece is beautifully rendered in a marvelous color palette.
Whether placed on the floor or hung on the wall as artwork, this antique Chinese textile is perfect for a hallway, long entry or foyer, corridor, home office, study, studio, den, bedroom, living room, dining room, home library, mudroom, gameroom, billiards room, and even a hotel lobby.
