19th Century Blue & White Phoenix Floreal Pekin Chinese Rug, ca 1870

About the Item

This Chinese carpets were achieved solely for the residences of court dignitaries. In China, the carpet is only a furnishing element than from wealth and beauty to the rooms. The decoration and colours, which are born from the same inspiration as porcelain, are expressions of balance and harmony. Our carpet is decorated with flowers decorating charming Chinese courtyards. Immersed in the rich flowering positioned at the corners four figures of the "phoenix". In traditional Chinese culture, the Phoenix, also called Feng Huang, was considered a noble bird that was able to judge human beings' character and confer blessings to the righteous and right. In the early days, Feng Huang was not reported to a single volatile, but two. Feng was the male bird, while Huang was the female one. Together, they were a metaphor for the symbol of Yin and Yang and a representation of the solemn relationship between man and woman. Later Feng and Huang were combined in a single female bird, often as a couple with a male dragon. In Feng Shui, the Phoenix is ??a symbol of good luck. Used correctly, it is thought to bring vital energy both in one's life and at home. Ulteriori informazioni su dignitary.
