Maharam pillow Amulet 001 garnet Amulet is based on a hand-printed silk scarf Kestler designed for S.K. Hand-Druck. Its pattern began with a study of military epaulet tapestries from 19th-century Germany. Presenting an Alpine twist on traditional teardrop motifs modernized through matte simplicity and bold scale, Amulet reflects Kestler’s distinctive synthesis of graphic symbols and folkloric references. A dense construction of fine cotton and nylon brings graphic precision to Amulet’s crisply cascading curves. Color 001 closely replicates the palette of Kestler’s original silkscreen with unexpected variations on classic primary and secondary shades that offer spontaneity to rigorous symmetry. Founded in 1902, Maharam offers a comprehensive collection of textiles for commercial and residential interiors. Maharam pillows feature celebrated textile designs from the 20th-21st centuries, from re-editions of the work of Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Verner Panton to recent collaborations with Hella Jongerius, Paul Smith, Scholten & Baijings, and Studio Job. Sonnhild Kestler (b. 1963, Switzerland) is a textile designer and hand-screen printer who graduated from Zürich University of the Arts. Her work emphasizes dynamic pattern compositions, vibrant color, and ornate graphics. Along with textiles for interiors, Kestler creates home and fashion accessories for her Zürich-based label, S.K.
