English Walnut Hall Stand

About the Item

This walnut hall stand has an arched pediment with recessed graduated panels with a raised shield in the center. The frieze has a gallery of turned spindles above open panels on the sides that have beveled gothic arches supported by shaped brackets. The center area has an arched beveled mirror surrounded by four earthenware tiles that depict the four cycles of the day: morning, noon, evening, and night. The mid-section has a top with quartered bookmatched burled wood panels and a bookmatched drawer of burled walnut with the original etched glass pulls. There are six brass hat hooks. There were originally eight. The top and mid-section are supported in front by four turned columns that terminate in protruding plinths with a platform shelf containing the two removable drip pans.
