Calvet coat hanger by Antoni Gaudi
About the Item
We have re-edited this design by Antoni Gaudí dating back from 1903 and is now part of our Art Editions catalogue. Perhaps this is the smallest piece of furniture ever made by Gaudí with its longest side measuring 25 centimetres. However this piece reveals the complexity inherent in his other major works. A central rectangular wooden body with curved edges. A surface crossed by three elongated openings, joined at the middle with two brass plated steel ribbons to another couple of wooden elements. Fixed together with rounded shapes, one being the perietal support and the other aptly called, the hanger.
Waxed natural solid oakwood. Forged iron structure with a burnished copper and varnished finish.
The Calvet hanger is numbered and accompanied by a certificate, signed by the director of the Gaudí Cathedra, certifying that they is a faithful and exact reproduction of the original designed by Antoni Gaudí.
