A fine 12 inch terrestrial W. & A.K. Johnston copyright globe by Weber Costello of Chicago Heights, IL with embossed graduated cast iron Meridian ring, wooden horizon ring depicting months and zodiac signs, all supported by a tripod cast stand with paw feet. C. F. Weber & Co. purchased the globe business of A. H. Andrews & Co. in 1896. The firm became Weber Costello Frick Co. in 1902 and Weber Costello in 1909, dating this globe to the early 20th century in good condition, with great overall patina, some orb rubs, overall yellowing, losses on the horizontal band, and other minor imperfections and expected wear from age and use. Dimensions: Approximately 22.5 in height x 17 in diameter, overall.
