About
This illuminated terrestrial globe was made by the George F. Cram Company of the United States who is well known for the production of initially maps and diversified to include globes since 1928. This globe was produced in 1966 in the style of the Art Deco movement. The globe itself sits on a cast base and axis with a brass patina, and portrays two stylized figures of Atlas holding up the planet. These figures are ornately cast and is three dimensional, and sit on a stepped wooden base. The globe lights up using a lamp chain from the bottom of the globe and can be both rotated and pivoted slightly on the cast brass axis. The terrestrial globe is also very detailed as presented in the posted photos.
